I hope to soon begin working on my first of many 2 flushers over the next couple of days.

Nope I was in the "corporate limits" of Nickelsville. Damn thing jumped outta somebody's yard. Luckily I hit the smallest of them. Probably won't have the truck anymore for a month or so though.

I've lived here nearly all my life and I can count on one hand the number of times I've been to Nickelsville.

I can't tell you a good reason to come to Nickelsville.

Maybe back a few years ago when we had that killer basketball team, but that is it.

Went once for an 8th grade football game the rest have been for basketball.

Yeah and you guys beat us. THen we came down the park and beat you guys. I'm not sure, but if I remember correctly we shut you out and you didn't cross the fifty but maybe once. I was on that team. Somebody in your stands kept ringing a cowbell haha..

Shows the differences in the programs I think. We could hang with you guys then, but look at the end result.

Lost to VHS and TS, yet 4 years later we won the region...... Shows how much 8th grade and jv means.

and twin springs was in no way as competitive as you guys were. shows how your program shaped you/molded you into better players and a better team.

we had some serious athletes when i was at ts. we could have easily won the region in baseball, basketball, and football when i was a junior and senior if the coaching and tradition and all that jazz would have been in place.

TS fielded some nice basketball teams in my high school days.

Yeah definitely. But that is all they know at TS is basketball. Some pretty underhanded politics happen up there when that sport is involved.

I think you graduated in 05 like i did, and that is one of the best teams i have ever seen assembled around here.

Warner, Dockery, Smith, Webb, Lindholm, Jovanovich all played for at least a little while on the collegiate level. They had a few players who got shortchanged on that whole ordeal and didn't see the floor enough to get a chance to play college ball, and some of them definitely might have been able to had they gotten more minutes.

Yea thats the same year I graduated. Good game you all had against GC that year.

yeah we should have beaten them worse, but we got out coached by scotty v. helped alot that he knew the players well i guess, and macmurray was a man among men.

Mccrary isn't a great coach, tj macamis would have won at least one state title with that bunch, maybe two.

I was a big fan of Lindholm's game, whats he doing now.

Oxycotin. He's been in and out of jail numerous times. Biggest waste of talent ever. True story - after his junior year at volunteer he didn't pick up a basketball until his first practice at TS. He rarely ever practiced either. He could play though. You should have seen him at Twin Valley that year. Webb got in foul trouble early(eventually fouled out in the third) and Lindholm had like 43 points. He could have done that every night.

Hate to hear that.

He pulled a stint at Brevard after he wasted away up at St. Mary's or whatever and almost got his life fixed up. Actually went and watched him play in Boone against Webb a few years ago. But he robbed somebody at gunpoint last spring. Sad story.

I'll never forget sitting behind the bench at Castlewood. We're sitting beside Chuck's parents. TO is called and the team comes to the bench. Lindholm practically yells to his dad that 'Those fukkers don't want to piss me off!' and 'I'm gonna get that motherfukker!'

Ah, those were the days. Twice that season I had Castlewood parents attempt to have me arrested by Russell Co. police.

I'll never forget having a party shortly after he first came to TS and I had to pick him up in GC to go to the cabin. He had with him seems like seven or eight of the hottest girls i have ever seen, all from kingsport. Told them he wasn't gonna pick favorites, and they couldn't all sit in the cab of the truck so they would all have to sit in the back. Then he gets them to the party, and has nothing to do with them. Dude could bring more ladies to a gathering than anyone I've ever seen. It was crazy.

He did have a fierce temper though. He hated one of the players from castlewood, and had me take a note to him that said "Meet me in the parking lot after the game. I'm going to stab you in the throat with a screwdriver" I got in trouble for it, but didn't know what it said when i delivered it. Lol what did you do to those blue devils Bob?

I remember that note. Or the incident rather.

After the first game at Cwood where their students were throwing everything from gum to coins at our players, my friends and I decided to sit behind the TS bench for the next game. I figured TS would sit on the home bench since they were the higher seeded team, but they sat on the away bench. So there were about 10 of us sitting behind the Cwood bench. We had more than one interaction with a certain Cwood player's mother.

There were a couple of older guys (late 30s) who came down to sit behind one of my friends. They kept kicking him in the back and elbowing him in the head, so he stood up and almost punched one of the guys. Miss Devilmom seized on that action and tried to get the RCSD deputy to eject us. He believed us that the guy was trying to start something and made him move instead of us.

There was one other time when we got there early and packed the area behind the TS bench. A few Cwood people got pissed and tried to get the RCSD to make us move, which failed. Two or three fistfights were averted that night.

I think the best time I've ever had at a game (other than the TS/GC Region D title game at Clintwood) was when TS played George Wythe at Cwood in the state quarterfinal game in 04 (I think). About 20 of us sat on the GW side, right on the floor and gave GW's team and fans hell the whole night. I lost my voice and came damn close to getting into a fight with three GW boys.

Well, either that or my near fight with an Ole Miss student last year in TBA. Ask Lung or TheBeast about that one.

I remember seeing you at the GW game. I just remember how animated you were, I always wondered what was really going on over there haha. You were pretty much in the middle over there on the lesser side of the gym if memory serves me correct.

If you would have been a student, you would have been banned from the game for such spirit like that. I wasn't allowed to go to the cumberland district tournament games that year by the school administration for being an opinionated fan. Check your pm's for the revenge i got on that one.

But god those were the days. Man we had some crowds. Did you ever sit near what people called the Drunken Alumni? They did some crazy stuff...

Heck I got escorted out of Appy one night by the police at a Coeburn/appy basketball game. And I hadn't done anything I was sitting right beside Coebunrn's and Appy's principals and they told the guy it wasn't me but the ref apparantely had more pull than the school admin's and I left. I of course pumped up the crowd as we walked out (they stopped the game just to do it) and the team got all pumped up and proceeded to beat appy by like 10-15. This was around 2001-2002 and when appy had some good teams and was at the top of the district.

Soon as I walk through the door at Gate City a Scott County Deputy is waiting on me, he then stands with me for the entire game. All he could tell me was that he was informed he needed to watch me and he would eject me if I became a disturbance. Where you over there that night Hearl? I remember some old folks from GC getting the cops on us another game as well because we were standing up and being loud. Why they chose to sit in the PV Student Section I'll never know. Of course a former coach threatened to have me barred from all home games at PV as well.

coeburn was the worst man, it was crazy.

i remember when the administrators told us we couldnt have signs, newspapers, body paint or anything.

and ill never forget zo winking at sturgis in appalachia at the tourney one year.

Good times, I think you'll see some fans get ejected this year. I'm hoping the officiating is better in the region this year, but I'm not expecting it.

I've set around pretty much everyone at one time or another. 90-95 was a fun time to sit in the student section at the Springs. We raised quite a bit of hell.

In 96 at TW, we were sitting behind the Council bench (3OT semifinal game). The Council staff had a big stack of cups sitting next to their cooler. Through the course of the first half, we put a hole in the bottom of every single cup in that stack. Every time they would try to fill a cup, about half would leak onto the floor.

I bet the janitor at TW hated us after one game (regular season) in 96 when my friend and I busted three handwarmers while sitting right on the floor. Looked like the remnants of a coal mine.

Anymore, when I do go to a game at the Springs, I sit behind the home bench and rarely open my mouth except to cuss the refs.

Quite embarrassing in retrospect.

They don't say as much to you when your no longer a student. I haven't changed how I act much but they don't say nearly as much.

They didn't say anything to us when we were students.

Probably the only student section in the area where there have been multiple incidences of broken bones.

Our student section was pathetic, our whole fan base is pathetic. I think our basketball fans will be better this year.
